Updates To TD Ameritrade's Document Delivery

Dear Client,

We wanted to reach out to you regarding a change to how TD Ameritrade is sending client statements, trade confirmations, and tax documents. The new industry standard only allows electronic delivery of documents if an account owner has created a login to the custodian's website. TD Ameritrade has sent a few emails throughout the summer explaining this change.

We still have several clients who have not created a login but do not want to receive paper documents from TD Ameritrade in the mail. If you find yourself in that group, please refer to the instructions below that first show how to create a login to TD Ameritrade's website and then show how to update your preferences once logged in.

Creating a Login

Go to https://www.advisorclient.com/login, scroll to the bottom of the page, and select "Set up my profile."
To create your user ID and password and have any of your account numbers ready, TD Ameritrade will then verify your identity using the phone number you provided when you opened your account. After that, they can either call or send you a text message to provide you with a unique 6-digit code to enter during the set-up process. From there, you will be prompted to create a user ID and password.
Please call our office if you need one of your account numbers or the phone number associated with an account. Unfortunately, we CAN NOT send this information via email, and we will verbally verify your identity if you call for this information.

Electing Electronic Documents

Log into the website, where you will see three tabs on the top: Accounts, Documents, and My Profile. Please select My Profile.
Select Communication preferences on that next page. This option is under Security and Preferences.
You will see a list showing if your Tax Documents, Trade Confirmations, and Monthly Statements are set for Paper or Electronic. You can update your preferences here.

Please note that there is a green button that says "Go paperless. Set All to electronic delivery." Most of our clients prefer to receive their Trade Confirmations and Monthly Statements electronically but still want their Tax Documents (like 1099s) sent in the mail. Selecting this green button will set everything, INCLUDING your Tax Documents, to electronic.
